The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to promoting Nigeria’s economic, cultural, and tourism potentials through a comprehensive national compendium covering opportunities across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The Minister made this known on Tuesday in Abuja when he received a delegation from the Nigerian Press Council led by its Executive Secretary, Dr. Dili Ezughah, who briefed him on preparations for the official launch scheduled for June 17, 2026, at the Presidential Villa.

Idris described the initiative as a timely and strategic effort to reposition Nigeria positively on the global stage, noting that it would highlight the country’s vast economic, tourism, and investment opportunities beyond negative narratives.

He said the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes economic diversification, tourism development, and expansion of the non-oil sector.

“We are not just known for oil; we are known for our rich culture, tourism assets, and immense opportunities across the country,” the Minister said, adding that the initiative would provide credible data for investors and international partners.

The Minister also commended the collaboration between the Nigerian Press Council, the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority, and the Ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, describing it as a model of inter-agency cooperation.

He assured full support for the launch and appreciated Vice President Kashim Shettima for his backing of the project at the national level.

Earlier, Dr. Ezughah said the compendium was developed to strengthen collaboration among government institutions and present a unified positive image of Nigeria globally. He explained that it would serve as a reference guide for investors, diplomats, development partners, and the diaspora community.

Lead Consultant Mr. Tajudeen Toyin-oke disclosed that the publication contains detailed profiles of all states and the FCT, including investment opportunities, mineral resources, infrastructure, tourism sites, and incentives for business growth.

Also speaking, NTDA Director-General Dr. Ola Awakan described the project as a major step toward changing global perceptions of Nigeria and showcasing its tourism potential.

The delegation further revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to write the foreword, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will contribute the preface.

The official launch is expected to attract governors, diplomats, investors, and key stakeholders from within and outside Nigeria.
