Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang received the update on April 4, 2026, during a courtesy visit at the Government House in Rayfield, Jos, by the Chairman of the Presidential Regulatory Committee on Technology Transfer, Mohammed Dahiru, alongside security expert Suleiman D. El-ladan.

Dahiru conveyed the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the establishment of a Skills Acquisition Centre in Jos. The initiative, to be implemented under the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure framework, aims to equip young people with practical and employable skills, reducing their exposure to crime and social vices.

He further disclosed plans for a 1,000-megawatt power project to be developed across Northern Nigeria through a proposed New Nigerian Energy Company in partnership with the United States. Plateau State has been selected as one of the pilot locations, with the project expected to boost electricity supply, drive economic activities, and enhance regional stability.

The delegation also expressed condolences to the state government over recent security challenges, reaffirming its commitment to supporting sustainable solutions.

Speaking during the visit, Rear Admiral El-ladan highlighted the need to strengthen security architecture in the state. He announced plans to deploy advanced security systems under a “Community-Led Integrated Focus Protection Framework,” backed by international partnerships to improve threat detection, prevention, and response.

The proposed interventions are expected to play a critical role in addressing unemployment, improving infrastructure, and restoring lasting peace in Plateau State.
