FG Launches ‘Hire from Nigeria’ Campaign to Connect Nigerian Talent with Global Jobs
The Federal Government has launched the “Hire from Nigeria” Campaign, a new initiative designed to position Nigeria as a leading global destination for skilled talent and digitally delivered services while creating opportunities for Nigerians to work remotely for international employers.
The campaign was formally unveiled on Monday, August 31, 2026, during a press conference at Radio House in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, described the initiative as an important step towards placing Nigeria’s human capital at the centre of the country’s participation in the global economy.
He said advances in technology had created new opportunities for knowledge, skills, creativity and professional services to cross international borders without requiring workers to relocate.
According to Idris, Nigeria is well positioned to benefit from this changing global economy because of its youthful population, growing pool of professionals and expanding digital capabilities.
“The future of Nigeria’s economy will increasingly be driven by the talent, creativity, skills and productivity of our people. Nigeria is ready to compete on the global stage. Nigerian talent is ready to work. And the world should look to Nigeria,” he said.
The minister explained that the campaign brings together the Federal Ministries of Industry, Trade and Investment and Education, NATEP, iDICE and private-sector partners to connect Nigerian professionals with international demand.
He described the initiative as a public-private partnership aimed at establishing Nigeria as a trusted source of skilled talent and digitally delivered services.
Creating global opportunities from Nigeria
Idris said the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation would use its communication platforms, agencies and partnerships to promote the campaign internationally and strengthen confidence in Nigerian professionals and businesses.
He added that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Federal Government’s ambition to create one million export-linked jobs.
The minister stressed that Nigerians should increasingly be able to participate in the global economy without having to leave the country.
“A young Nigerian does not have to leave the country to participate in the global economy. With the right skills, infrastructure, professional standards, and access to markets, Nigerians can live and work and earn here at home, while providing valuable services to clients and employers worldwide,” he said.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, said the government was strengthening Nigeria’s talent pipeline through curriculum reforms, technical and vocational education, digital skills development and industry-focused training.
He said the objective was to ensure that Nigerians were properly trained and certified to meet international employment standards.
“Wherever in the world, whoever in the world wants to hire, we want Nigerians to be trained, certified, and ready for the hire,” Alausa said.
Similarly, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, described the campaign as more than a communications initiative, saying it represents a broader economic strategy to convert Nigeria’s demographic advantage into employment, exports and investment.
She said the campaign would also be presented to the international community at the 81st United Nations General Assembly, where Nigeria would promote its skilled workforce and digitally delivered services.
“Hiring from Nigeria is not an act of goodwill. It is a sound commercial decision that delivers capability, innovation, competitiveness, and value,” Oduwole said.
Removing barriers to international employment
Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant on Strategic Communications and NATEP in the Office of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Olajumoke Dan-Okayi, said the campaign would tackle some of the barriers preventing qualified Nigerians from accessing international opportunities.
She identified discoverability, trust and global access as key challenges facing Nigerian talent.
“The ‘Hire from Nigeria’ initiative has three simple jobs: make Nigeria easy to discover, make Nigerian talent easier to trust, and make Nigerians easier to hire,” she said.
The Founder and President of Tech4Dev, Mr. Joel Ogunsola, said the campaign would help bridge the gap between Nigeria’s large talent pool and growing international demand for skilled workers and professional services.
“Nigeria has the talent, the world has the demand. Our job is to bring the two together,” Ogunsola said.
He noted that connecting skills with opportunities could help transform Nigeria’s human capital into sustainable economic value.
The “Hire from Nigeria” Campaign is expected to connect Nigerian professionals, service providers and businesses with international employers, outsourcing companies, investors and global markets.
The initiative forms part of the Federal Government’s broader efforts to expand Nigeria’s services exports, create employment opportunities for young people and enable skilled Nigerians to earn income from international markets while remaining in the country.
The launch was attended by senior government officials, private-sector leaders and other stakeholders, including the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority, Comrade Salihu Abdulhamid Dembos; Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Dr. Mohammed Bulama; Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Dr. Sunday Dare; and other officials and partners.
