FG Reaffirms Commitment to Tackling Ecological Challenges in Oyo State
The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to addressing ecological challenges in Oyo State and across Nigeria, with renewed focus on mitigating the effects of climate change, environmental degradation, flooding, erosion, desertification, and other related environmental hazards.

The assurance was given by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, CON, when the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja alongside members of his entourage.
Senator Akume congratulated the monarch on his ascension to the throne of the Olubadan of Ibadanland and assured him of the Federal Government’s readiness to address some of the recurring ecological challenges affecting parts of Oyo State. He emphasized that tackling ecological problems nationwide remains a top priority of the Tinubu-led administration, given their impact on lives, livelihoods, and sustainable development.
According to the SGF, the Federal Government is committed to implementing long-term solutions that will reduce the vulnerability of communities to environmental hazards while promoting resilience and environmental sustainability.
Earlier in his remarks, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja explained that the visit was aimed at appealing to the Federal Government, through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, to urgently intervene in finding lasting solutions to the persistent ecological problems confronting some parts of Oyo State. He noted that recurring flooding in affected areas has continued to inflict severe hardship on residents.
The Olubadan’s entourage included Senator AbdulFatai Buhari, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, Alhaji Chief Ademola Alli, Prince Ade Adekanbi, Hon. Nureni Adisa, and other prominent dignitaries.
The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration between traditional institutions and the Federal Government in addressing environmental challenges and improving the well-being of affected communities.
