Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has distributed 10,000 sanitary pads to female students in Kogi State as part of efforts to promote menstrual hygiene and support girls’ education.

She disclosed that a total of 370,000 sanitary pads would be distributed to schoolgirls across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, under the initiative.

The items were distributed on Wednesday in Lokoja during the launch of her programme, “Flow With Confidence,” aimed at empowering young girls and addressing menstrual health challenges.

According to the First Lady, the initiative is designed to ensure that girls can attend school with dignity and confidence, without being hindered by lack of access to sanitary products.

She further revealed that the programme cost approximately ₦2.55 billion, covering the procurement and distribution of the sanitary pads nationwide.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve the well-being of girls and encourage continuous school attendance, particularly among vulnerable students.
