Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has inaugurated the distribution of 100 trucks of rice alongside N1.2 billion in palliative support to vulnerable households across the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The initiative, coordinated by the Office of the First Lady in collaboration with the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Political and Other Matters, is aimed at alleviating hardship and supporting low-income families.

The programme reflects the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in prioritising social welfare, inclusion, and targeted interventions for vulnerable populations.

According to officials, the distribution will be carried out across communities in the region to ensure that support reaches those most in need, particularly ahead of festive periods and amid prevailing economic challenges.

The intervention forms part of broader efforts by the Federal Government to cushion the impact of economic reforms and improve the living conditions of citizens, especially in underserved areas.

Stakeholders have described the initiative as a timely response to the needs of vulnerable households, with expectations that it will provide immediate relief and reinforce the government’s commitment to equitable development across the country.
