The event, themed “Innovative Approaches to Cancer Prevention and Early Detection,” took place on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

The seminar saw the participation of First Ladies from various OIC member countries, who shared their national experiences and initiatives in cancer control. Among the distinguished attendees were President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs. Oghogho Gwabin Musa, and the President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs. Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja.

Her Excellency Mademe Ichraf Saied, the First Lady of Tunisia, delivered remarks at the event, highlighting the importance of collaborative efforts in combating cancer. Senator Oluremi Tinubu, in her capacity as the host, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the need for innovative strategies to prevent and detect cancer at its early stages.

The climax of the seminar was a dinner held in honor of all guests, providing a platform for goodwill messages, networking, and group photographs.

The event marked a significant step forward in fostering cooperation among OIC member states in the fight against cancer, underlining the commitment of African leaders and stakeholders to address this pressing public health issue.
