Flight Operations Resume After Private Jet Incident at Abuja Airport
Flight operations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, were temporarily suspended on Thursday following an incident involving a private jet that developed a fault while landing.
The aircraft, a Gulfstream 400 with registration number 5N-PZE, reportedly suffered nosewheel damage during landing at about 2:00 p.m. The jet, which had departed from Enugu Airport, was carrying 10 passengers and four crew members at the time of the incident.
A source at the airport confirmed the development, noting that there were no casualties.
“Yes, I can confirm there was an aircraft incident at Abuja Airport today. The Gulfstream jet from Enugu had a nosewheel problem during landing. Fourteen people were onboard, including crew members, and thankfully, everyone is safe,” the source said.
The damaged aircraft was later evacuated from the runway, and normal flight operations resumed shortly after.
As of press time, the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Henry Agbebire, had yet to officially comment on the incident.
