Four Nigerian Students to Represent Country at 2026 World Spelling Bee Championships in China
Nigeria will be represented by four outstanding students at the 2026 World Spelling Bee Championships in Shanghai, China, following their impressive performances at the 8th African Spelling Bee Championships held in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The four-member Team Nigeria comprises Oluwadamilola Adeolu, who emerged as the 2026 African Spelling Bee Junior Champion, Oghenetano Idoghor, Maryam Yusuf, and Abdurrahman Yusuf.
The selection of Maryam Yusuf and Abdurrahman Yusuf has drawn particular attention in Northern Nigeria, where their qualification is being celebrated as another milestone in the region’s growing record of academic excellence on the international stage.
