FRSC Deploys 2,500 Personnel, 50 Vehicles for Osun Governorship Election
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 2,500 personnel and 50 operational vehicles across Osun State ahead of the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026, as part of measures to ensure effective traffic management and prompt emergency response during the polls.
The deployment, which covers the state’s three senatorial districts and all FRSC operational areas, includes seven heavy-duty tow trucks and six ambulances to support traffic control, emergency response and the quick removal of road obstructions.
In a statement issued by the Corps’ Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, the FRSC said the deployment is aimed at ensuring smooth movement of road users, responding promptly to emergencies and enforcing compliance with the restriction/no-movement order during the election period.
The Corps will also work to prevent and clear traffic obstructions that could impede the movement of voters, electoral officials, security personnel and other authorised road users.
The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, mni, said the deployment underscores the FRSC’s commitment to supporting a peaceful, safe and credible electoral process within its statutory responsibility for road safety and traffic management.
He stressed that FRSC personnel deployed for the election would operate with professionalism, neutrality, discipline and respect for human rights, while maintaining close coordination with the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) and other relevant security and emergency-response agencies.
According to him, the Corps’ priority is to ensure that its personnel and resources contribute effectively to the safe movement of people and the protection of lives throughout the electoral period.
The FRSC therefore urged motorists and other road users in Osun State to cooperate with its personnel, comply with traffic regulations and follow all lawful movement restrictions put in place for the election.
The Corps reaffirmed its readiness to respond swiftly to road crashes, breakdowns, obstructions and other emergencies throughout the election, while urging citizens to conduct themselves responsibly as Osun State goes to the polls.
