GOC 81 Div. urges commanders to maintain focus on national security.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General MT Usman, has urged commanders to maintain focus on national security and emphasised collective responsibility for vigilance.

He made these remarks during the combined West African Social Activities (WASA) 2023 celebration held by the Directorate of Automated Data Processing (Army), Directorate of Chaplain Services (RC), and Directorate of Islamic Affairs (DOIA) on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Bonny Cantonment in Lagos.
Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Brigadier General RO Agbi, General Usman commended the units for overcoming challenges and completing scheduled activities, attributing their success to the dedication of personnel. He also expressed gratitude to President and Commander-in-Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja for their support.
The GOC acknowledged the vital support and prayers of family members, especially recognising their resilience. He also thanked the invited guests and the press for celebrating the achievements of the three directorates.
Brigadier General AA Nguru, mni, the Director of the Directorate of Automated Data Processing, welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of WASA in preserving Nigerian ethics and traditions within the diverse cultures of the Nigerian Army. He explained that “WASA is a military tradition that fosters social interaction among military personnel, their families, and civilian acquaintances, creating a climate of peaceful coexistence, ” he said emphasisinh the role of WASA in preserving cultural heritage, connecting generations, and expressed gratitude for the successful completion of the year’s events.
He called for continued prayers for fallen heroes and acknowledged the guidance and commitment of Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja.
The event featured cultural displays, a tug-of-war competition, and the presentation of souvenirs to the Special Guest of Honour. The Directorate of Automated Data Processing (Army), Chaplain Services (RC), and Islamic Affairs (DOIA) are commanded by Brigadier General AA Nguru, mni, Brigadier General AF Maimagani, and Brigadier General U Musa, respectively.
