Gombe State has soared to remarkable heights and emerged as the overall winner among the 20 states implementing the ACReSAL project with a staggering total of 12 awards for its outstanding performance.
This exceptional achievement was unveiled during the one-day ACReSAL project stakeholders’ engagement held at the Ladi Kwali Hall of the Continental Hotel in Abuja.
The event, chaired by the Minister of Environment and Chairman of the ACReSAL Federal Steering Committee, Malam Balarabe Abbas Lawal, witnessed the convergence of representatives from various key sectors, including Co-Chairs of the ACReSAL Federal Steering Committee, Ministers of Water Resources and Agriculture, World Bank officials, project managers, federal agency representatives, and State Project Coordinators from the 20 ACReSAL project states across Nigeria.
Gombe State’s phenomenal success was celebrated through a sweep of awards across multiple categories.
The State emerged best in Social Safeguard, GIS Application, and Communication Activity.
Also, the state clinched several 1st Runner-up positions in Workflow, Turnaround, Responsiveness, Project Engineering, Procurement Competency, Policy Support, Political Will, and Project Implementation.
Gombe State also claimed 2nd Runner-up positions in Communication Drive, Transparency, Integrity, and Disbursement of Funds.
The Gombe State delegation at the event was led by the Commissioner of Water, Environment, and Forest Resources and Chair of the ACReSAL State Steering Committee, Mohammed Saidu Mohammed Fawu with the Commissioner of Agriculture & Animal Husbandry, Permanent Secretaries, Director of Water Resources, and heads of project units as part of the entourage.
Commissioner Fawu, while commenting, described the triumph by Gombe State as a reflection of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and effective project management.
He said, “These accolades solidify the reputation of Gombe State and set a high standard as envisioned by His Excellency, inspiring others to emulate our remarkable achievements in the ACReSAL project”.
