Gombe Governor Empowers Commissioners with 17 Brand New SUVs
In a commendable move aimed at enhancing the efficiency of government officials, the Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has presented 17 brand new GAC GS4 model SUVs to members of the State Executive Council.
During a concise ceremony held at the Government House, Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasized the significance of these vehicles in facilitating the seamless execution of official duties and accentuating the prestige associated with their respective offices.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya extended a similar gesture to members of the Gombe State House of Assembly, recognizing the importance of enabling them to carry out their oversight functions and actively participate in governance.
Addressing the current economic challenges, the Governor acknowledged the imperative of government prudence amidst inflation and currency depreciation. He stressed the need for a reduction in the cost of governance while maintaining optimal performance in governance practices.
Highlighting the pivotal role of utility vehicles for government ministries, departments, and agencies, Governor Inuwa Yahaya urged responsible handling of the assets. He remarked, “This time around, we must take extra care. These are public assets, and we must handle them as we handle our own property. We have to show leadership by example.”
Governor Inuwa Yahaya warned that any vehicle found deviating from its intended purpose would be subject to withdrawal by the state government, emphasizing the importance of responsible use.
In response, the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Zubair Muhammad Umar, conveyed gratitude on behalf of the Commissioners. He acknowledged the significance of the Governor’s gesture, expressing confidence that the vehicles would greatly assist in the discharge of their official duties. Commissioner Zubair Muhammad Umar assured the Governor that the State Executive Council would manage the vehicles prudently to ensure their longevity.
