Gombe Women Rejoice as Aishatu Dukku Empowers 300 Women with N10,000
Joy and ecstasy rent the air on Sunday 13th March 2022 as about 300 Gombe women smiled home with 10,000 each, an empowerment package by the member representing Dukku/Nafada federal constituency of Gombe State at the national assembly, Aishatu Jabir.
Dukku on Sunday called for more women empowerment programs and packages in Gombe state.
Speaking at the flag-off of her women empowerment program in Dukku, Mrs Jibir who distributed N3 million to 300 women in her constituency, called on more women empowerment and packages in Gombe State.
Continuing, she stated that poverty is biting hard on women and that they need to be empowered to be self-reliant and to support the development of their society.
She used the medium to commend the state governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for supporting and empowering women. “We want to thank you for appointing women in your cabinet and giving us women councillors in our serious local government areas,” she said.
On his part, Governor Yahaya who was at the event in Dukku assured that women would continue to be involved in the governance of the state under his stewardship, adding that he is not oblivious of the various supports and invaluable contributions that women have been rendering his administration and vowed to reward them and the state in general.
“We will continue to develop our state and the women, more especially in Dukku LGA, we will make sure that Dukku gets what it deserves in terms of development,” he said.
The Governor also disclosed plans to redevelop the newly established Dukku campus of the Gombe State University (GSU).
Governor Yahaya had converted the School of Nursing and Midwifery Dukku that was initiated by former Governor Dankwambo to the GSU campus in Dukku.
