Gov. Inuwa swears in new commissioners, permanent secretaries

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya on Thursday swore in newly appointed commissioners and permanent secretaries in the state.

Gov Inuwa, who charged them to remain committed in the discharge of their duties, said their appointment was informed by their qualifications, dedication, loyalty, and commitment to the progress of the state, adding that the positions were crucial in the successful implementation of the development agenda for the State.

According to him, the State Executive Council, which comprises the governor, deputy governor, and all the honorable commissioners, plays a vital role in formulating policies, implementing programs, and ensuring that his administration’s vision was translated into tangible results for the people.

He added that permanent secretaries were the fulcrum that forms the backbone of the civil service that helps in providing administrative expertise in executing government programs and the continuity that is needed for effective and efficient governance.

He said, “I would like to remind you that your appointments go along with important responsibilities. You are entrusted with the task of serving the people of Gombe State with integrity, transparency, and accountability.

The decisions you make will have a direct impact on the lives of our citizens, and I have every confidence that you will approach your roles with great sense of duty and highest ethical standards.”

The Governor, who urged them to imbibe the virtues of diligence, integrity, transparency, and accountability, also reminded them that his administration does not tolerate corruption and incompetence, charging them to put the collective interest of the state at the forefront of every decision they make.

“Let me also remind you that our administration has zero tolerance for corruption and incompetence. As members of the Executive Council and as leaders in the civil service, you are expected to be diligent in your duties and be prudent in the management of the scarce resources to be placed at your disposal.

“You must be ready to put the collective interest of Gombe State at the forefront of every decision you make. As the servant of the people, your objective should always be about the progress of our dear state and the welfare of its people.”

The newly appointed honorable commissioners and their assigned portfolios are as follows:

ii. Adamu Inuwa Pantami – Youth and Sports Development
iii. Barr. Zubairu Mohammed Umar – Attorney-General/Commissioner for Justice
iv. Dr. Abdullahi Bappa Garkuwa – Science, Technology and Innovation
v. Dr. Aishatu Umar Maigari – Education
vi. Dr. Barnabas Malle – Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperatives
vii. Dr. Habu Dahiru – Health
viii. Dr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu – Works, Housing and Transport
ix. Hon. Asmau’u Mohammed Iganus – Women Affairs and Social Development
x. Lt. Col. Abdullahi Bello (Rtd) – Internal Security and Home Affairs
