Governor Bagudu Ends Water Scarcity in Fulani Hamlets

Kebbi State Governor, Sen. Atiku Bagudu, on Sunday directed the Ministry of Water Resources to move to the site and sink boreholes at Fulani hamlets in Bunza Local Government Area of the state.
The governor’s decision to end the lingering water scarcity was a result of his interface with the dwellers in Rugar Bambala, a Fulani hamlet who had reported the perennial water scarcity in the area to the governor.
According to the Special Adviser (SA) on Media to the governor, Yahaya Sarki in a statement issued on Sunday, settlers in the area had told the Governor that, the existing borehole in their hamlet was not functional, while the generator needed servicing.
He stated that a similar case was recoded at Tungar Riskuwa, another Fulani hamlet during an interaction between the Governor and the community members in the hamlet.
Sarki explained that an aged woman, Fatima Hajo told the governor that women in the area always had to walk for a long distance to fetch water and that some other women, requested for water supply in their community.
He stated that Governor Bagudu who took time to know the need of people, directed the immediate repairs of the borehole. He added that Bagudu assured of the state government’s commitment to sink a borehole for the communities. According Sarki the governor said: “Officials from the Ministry of Water Resources would soon mobilise to the site of their choice, to begin work immediately”.
Sarki further stated that the governor who stopover at Tsora village, where he met some water melon farmers urged the rural dwellers to get together and form cooperative groups to benefit from the government’s loan facility.
While tasking the communities to remain committed to their work Governor Bagudu also sue for peaceful coexistence among the communities, he also urged them to always send their children to school.
“Bagudu also inspected the Tilli/Zogirma Bridge which was rehabilitated recently by the state government,” Sarki stated.
