Governor Fintiri Celebrates Women’s Day, Announces Cash Grants for 10,000 Women

As the world marks the International Women’s Day with the theme “Invest In Women: Accelerate Progress”, the Adamawa State Governor, the Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has praised the contributions of Nigerian women to the nation’s development.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, Governor Fintiri said that the progress of women is the gain of the entire country, and that gender equality is essential for true progress.
He thanked the women for playing their equal and rightful role in Nigeria over the years, and wished them a happy celebration of the day.
He also assured them that his government is committed to addressing the challenges that hinder women empowerment, such as domestic conflicts, gender based violence, malnutrition, and unpaid care work.
He said that celebrating women’s day is an opportunity to reflect on their role in the country’s transformation and achievements, and to set up measures to keep the pace.
He revealed that his government has embarked on the journey towards gender equality and women empowerment, by allowing women to exercise their full potential in the re-engineering process.
He announced that as part of his Poverty Alleviation Programme, dubbed “Fintiri Business Wallet”, he will empower 10,000 women with 50,000 naira cash grant each on March 8th 2024, as a deliberate move to rekindle hope in them and make them economically prosperous and true help meets in their families.
He said that this is a demonstration of his government’s strong commitment and political will to promote gender equality and women empowerment in Adamawa State.
The International Women’s Day is a global event that celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It was established by the UN in 1972.
