Group Honours Heroic Naval Officer Who Sacrificed Own Life to Save 59 Others

The Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and other Security Agencies (PSNASA) has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Lt. Commander Gideon Yashim Gwaza, a decorated Nigerian Navy officer who tragically lost his life while saving 59 people aboard a distressed vessel.
Ambassador Mary Abayomi Fatile, the convener of PSNASA, expressed the nation’s grief and admiration for Gwaza’s extraordinary bravery. “His selfless act of bravery has sent shockwaves of grief and admiration throughout the nation,” Fatile remarked.
PSNASA, while mourning the loss of this national hero, honours his memory by highlighting the dedication of security personnel like Gwaza, who exemplify the unrelenting commitment of those who risk their lives to protect others.
According to the group, his heroic actions on board the MV AMBIKA 4, a dredging vessel on the brink of disaster, will remain unforgettable.
The group noted that despite the perilous conditions, Gwaza led the rescue operation with unwavering resolve, ensuring the safety of all on board.
Extending its deepest condolences to Gwaza’s family, PSNASA urged the nation to unite in support of security agents who face life-threatening risks every day. “We must recognize and appreciate the sacrifices of heroes like Gwaza, who embodies the true spirit of selflessness and bravery,” Fatile added.
