Health: FG inaugurates Isolation Centre 11 other projects in Kebbi

The Federal Government (FG) has on Monday inaugurated an Infectious Diseases Isolation and Treatment Centre at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Birnin Kebbi.

According to the government, the project was executed through the COVID-19 intervention fund, was part of efforts to provide the investiture diseases isolation center and Molecular laboratory in tertiary health institutions in Nigeria.
Commissioned the center alongside other projects, the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora, disclosed that the projects were the classical manifestation of the Ministry’s efforts to tame the COVID-19 pandemic and provide affordable healthcare to Nigerians.
The minister explained that the new infectious diseases isolation and treatment center was executed through the COVID-19 Intervention fund, while other projects were done outside the funds.
“The development we are achieving today could not have happened without the industrial harmony, between the management on one hand and between the management and the unions on the other hand,” he said while commending the hospital’s Board of Directors, Management, and Unions.
Projects commissioned include a Molecular Laboratory and Flameless Incinerator, 10 bed Intensive Care Unit, Drug Information Centre, Out-Patient Dispensing Unit and NHIS Complex as well as a Digital X-Ray Machines.
Others were: An Amenity Ward, Maternity Complex Phase 1 and foundation laying of phase 2, House Officers’ Quarters, Power House, Phase 3, Waste Management Site and C-arm Machine, other Theatre equipment and instruments.
He pointed out, the happy development has brought about the myriad of successes recorded in the execution of the projects and their subsequent commissioning.
He called on the Hospital’s authorities, as well as the beneficiaries to observe strict maintenance culture for the facilities to last longer.
The Minister has also lauded Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for supporting FMC, Birnin Kebbi, as well as his wife, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, towards her untiring invaluable efforts in cancer prevention and treatment in the state and country, at large.
