Hon. Abba Issa Applauds Amina Dikwa Foundation at 5

In a recent address at the 5th anniversary celebration of the Amina Dikwa Foundation, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Disability Matters, expressed joy and appreciation for the foundation’s significant impact on vulnerable segments of society, including persons with disabilities (PWDs) and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Conveying President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recognition of the crucial role played by the Amina Dikwa Foundation in improving the lives of the vulnerable over the past five years, he commended the foundation’s dedication and unwavering commitment to positive change.
Represented at the event by Mr. Lanre Oloyede, his Special Assistant on Media, Hon. Abba Isa highlighted the foundation’s focus on Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), particularly its efforts in addressing the less privileged in society. He stressed the importance of WASH, declaring it a fundamental human right supported by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
“As the SSA to the President on Disability Matters, I remain committed to addressing a crucial aspect of our society: water sanitation and hygiene for persons with disabilities. And as well, I am happy to confirm to you President Tinubu’s commitment to providing inclusive infrastructure and ensuring public spaces and facilities are accessible to everyone,” he stated.
Speaking further, the SSA to the President on Disability Matters underscored the necessity of hygiene and called for collaboration to address challenges faced by PWDs and IDPs. He announced plans for a national consensus and partnership to create sustainable solutions, promoting research and innovation to develop assistive technologies for water and sanitation accessibility.
In conclusion, Hon. Abba Isa acknowledged the significance of achieving water, sanitation, and hygiene inclusivity, emphasising that it is not just a policy goal but a testament to the commitment to human rights and equality. He praised the Amina Dikwa Foundation on its five-year anniversary, expressing gratitude for its positive impact on vulnerable lives.
“In the coming days, the Office of the SSAP is looking forward to working with the Amina Dikwa Foundation to take action and implement some of our policies as regards providing inclusive access to quality water sanitation and hygiene for the vulnerable. Congratulations,” he said.
