Member of the House of Representatives representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency, Hon Emmanuel Sanya Omirin has debunked the rumours making the round that one Mr Olabode Owoeye known as “Bode Itaapa” was working for him.
Hon Omirin while fielding questions from our Correspondent during a telephone chart on Saturday described the rumours and allegations as baseless one which represented a malicious attempt of tarnishing his reputation.
The Ijesha born politician who called on his faithfuls and general public to disregard the allegations which he described as opposition’s work to attack his credibility emphasised that the suspect himself had already stated during his confession to the Police that “I have no any relationship with Hon Sanya Omirin and I do not have his phone number with me while I did not in any way had dealings with him”
According to Hon Omirin, “I have zero tolerance for criminal activities, I have never committed any criminal offense, I didn’t foment trouble, I am a complete law abiding citizens and I used to warn all my faithfuls and followers not to foment trouble or lay hand on anything that may lead to crisis, so I was surprised about the false information going round, the Police, DSS or any security personnel should check their records to confirm my claims as am not scared.
“It was the opposition party that alleged that the suspect confessed of being engaged by a Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Chieftain and he mentioned my name, but I am saying it clearly that I have not met the suspect before or now neither do I have any criminal activities with him, never because I am always a man of honour who is always pursuing total peace.
“I want to tell the whole world that the allegations linking me with suspected criminal activities are null and void, baseless as well as representing a malicious attempt to destroy my reputation.
“Very recently, I was violently attacked and left unconscious during the last general election in 2023 by some gangs suspected to be opposition members. The Police came to my aid then to rescue me from the aggrieved crowd that bombarded me and my faithfuls, but it’s a pity I have been seeking justice for this ugly incident since but all to no avail.
“It’s only they want to seek for public sympathy through deceit due to their response to the shock of electoral defeat during the general elections.
“Once again, I am a man of God who does not condone any act of hooliganism, thuggery, killing, cultism, as well as any form of social misconduct before or during previous elections as I am a patriotic Nigerian that upholds human dignity and fundamental human right. I want to say that the person or anyone making such claims should be held accountable within the confines of the law.
“I promise to continue to serve my people in Ijesa South Federal Constituency diligently as am going to be a good representative for them as I will not relent to always bring dividends of democracy to their door step. Both the aged, youths, farmers, students, artisans and entire people of the constituency will continue to feel our developmental programmes which is expected to transform them. Once again, we shall never be distracted as there is no level of damages by the opposition can distract us from serving our people” Hon Omirin concluded.
