HQ Launches Investigation into Alleged Unjust Detention of Abba Haruna
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has responded to a viral video clip alleging the prolonged detention of Seaman Abbas Haruna, a Naval rating, for six years without due process.
The video sparked public concern, but the DHQ has assured that the matter is under immediate investigation.
In a statement signed by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, said the military reaffirmed its commitment to justice and adherence to the rule of law.
“The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has ordered a swift inquiry, with findings to be disclosed soon.
The DHQ cautioned the public against spreading unverified claims and emphasized that the military court-martial process is thorough and fair.
Nigerians were assured of a transparent investigation and prompt resolution.
