Husayn Zaguru’s AfroDervish Performance goes to Kano

The AfroDervish Performance, recently produced by Arojah Royal Theatre, for the just concluded maiden edition of the Abuja International Theatre Festival and Awards (ABITFA), is set to hit the stage in Kano this weekend, as one of a rich line-up of activities for the Hausa International Book and Arts Festival (HIBAF).
HIBAF is an internationally recognised Festival of books and arts, held annually in the ancient city of Kano, Nigeria, a state notable for its contribution to indigenous languages and arts in Nigeria and beyond
The AfroDervish, which was premiered in Abuja on Wednesday, November 1, at the Brazilian Embassy Theatre, is an immersive performance that transport the audience beyond the four walls of the theatre, embellished with poetry, music and a non-stop whirlwind of movement.
While Dervish performance originated from Turkey and has become a global theatrical product, the AfroDervish priginated from Nigeria and by Husayn Zaguru is an Afrocentric version expected to delight the world.
The AfroDervish Performance is checked for performance on Friday, December 16, at the Ado Bayero Mall in Kano.
