IGP Deploys DIG to Kaduna After Church Attack, Seven Victims Rescued

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the deployment of the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (Operations), Shehu Umar Nadada, to Kaduna State following a deadly attack in Ariko Village near Gurara Dam.

The incident, which occurred on April 5, 2026, involved armed bandits who attacked ECWA and Catholic churches in the community, killing five persons and abducting about fourteen others.

In response, the IGP directed an immediate operational intervention, tasking the DIG Operations to assess the situation on ground and coordinate security efforts aimed at restoring order and securing the release of the abducted victims.

Police said the team, led by DIG Nadada and working in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services, successfully rescued seven of the kidnapped victims during ongoing operations.

The rescued individuals were taken to Katari Hospital for medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition, awaiting reunion with their families.

The IGP assured that operations are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining victims and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information to support ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in the area.
