Inuwa Yahaya Seeks Enhanced Collaboration with President Tinubu for Development
Gombe State Governor and Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, visited President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on 4th January 2024, aiming to strengthen collaboration between the federal and state governments for the progress of the nation.
During the meeting, Governor Inuwa Yahaya briefed President Tinubu on the latest developments in Gombe State and the northern region, highlighting the achievements recorded under his leadership. He assured the President of his administration’s commitment to translating words into action for accelerated development.
Speaking to State House Correspondents after the closed-door meeting, Governor Inuwa emphasised the critical need for increased collaboration between the federal and state governments. He stressed that such cooperation is essential for the overall development of the country across various sectors.
The Governor highlighted previous engagements between the federal and state governments, particularly in healthcare and business environment reforms. He underscored the importance of a thriving economy for national development and emphasized the significance of collaborative efforts to achieve this goal.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya addressed the importance of modernising agriculture for increased productivity and food sufficiency. He disclosed that Gombe State is part of the approved Special Agric Processing zones, establishing an industrial park for processing agricultural produce.
Commenting on security challenges in some parts of the country, the Governor commended President Tinubu for sending Vice President Kashim Shettima to assess the situations in Kaduna and Plateau States. As the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, Governor Inuwa praised the President’s actions and expressed gratitude for the support given to victims.
Regarding the Plateau crisis, Governor Inuwa emphasised the need for a review of the immediate and remote causes to find lasting solutions. He urged stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue, addressing issues like farmer-herder clashes and the indigenes versus settlers’ question. The Governor called for unity, understanding, and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians for progress and development.
