A Jamaican man has gone viral after choosing an unusual disguise to collect his lottery jackpot, appearing in a full “Scream” costume to hide his identity.

The winner, identified only as Campbell, showed up at the Spanish Court Hotel in Kingston wearing the iconic ghost mask, white robe, and gloves as he claimed his winnings of approximately 158 million Jamaican dollars, equivalent to about $1.17 million.

Explaining his decision, Campbell said he wanted to remain completely anonymous, stressing that he did not want anyone — including close relatives — to recognize him. His move reflects a growing trend in Jamaica, where lottery winners often conceal their identities to avoid security risks, harassment, or pressure from family members.

Campbell also revealed that he waited 54 days before coming forward to claim the prize, noting that the shock and anxiety of winning caused him physical discomfort, including headaches and stomach pain.

The dramatic appearance has since sparked widespread discussion online, drawing attention to the safety concerns faced by lottery winners in the country and the extreme measures some take to protect themselves after sudden wealth.
