The Jigawa State Government has intensified efforts to combat drug abuse with the signing of key Executive Orders and the inauguration of a State Task Force on Drug Abuse and Societal Orientation, as part of a comprehensive strategy to address substance abuse and promote social responsibility across the state.

The Executive Orders were signed by the Governor of Jigawa State, Mallam Umar A. Namadi, FCA, during the official unveiling of the state’s anti-drug abuse campaign themed “Jigawa United Against Drug Abuse.”
The campaign is aimed at strengthening preventive measures, enhancing public awareness, mobilising communities against substance abuse and fostering collaboration among government agencies, traditional institutions and other stakeholders in addressing the menace of illicit drugs.
As part of the programme, the governor also inaugurated the Task Force on Drug Abuse and Societal Orientation, which is expected to coordinate activities targeted at reducing drug abuse and promoting positive social values across the state.
During his visit to Jigawa, the NDLEA Chairman paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Dutse, His Royal Highness Alhaji Hamim Nuhu Muhammad Sanusi, CON, where discussions centred on strengthening partnerships with traditional institutions in the fight against drug abuse.
Brig. Gen. Marwa also inspected the site of the proposed NDLEA Barracks in Jigawa State, reaffirming the Agency’s commitment to expanding its operational infrastructure and improving the welfare of its personnel to enhance the fight against illicit drug trafficking and abuse.
The event underscores the growing collaboration between the Federal Government, state authorities and traditional institutions in tackling drug abuse and safeguarding communities from the devastating effects of substance misuse.
