Kaduna Graduates 4,050 Trainees as Governor Sani Reaffirms Commitment to Skills Development
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, CON, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to skills development and youth empowerment following the successful maiden graduation of 4,050 trainees from the Kaduna State Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development (KIVTSD).
The graduates were drawn from the Institute’s three campuses, strategically located to serve the state’s three senatorial zones.
Governor Sani described the graduation as a significant milestone in Kaduna’s efforts to equip young people with practical skills that can translate into employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods.
He said the state government provided a ₦810 million grant, alongside start-up support, internationally recognised qualifications and industry linkages, to help bridge the gap between vocational training and real economic opportunities.
“Investment in skills is an investment in the future of Kaduna,” the governor said, stressing that the objective is to ensure that skills acquired by young people translate into livelihoods, enterprise and sustainable economic value.
The governor also highlighted the Federal Ministry of Education’s decision to adopt KIVTSD’s training manuals as reference materials for the development of a nationwide guide for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme.
He described the recognition as an important endorsement of Kaduna’s approach to vocational education and skills development.
Similarly, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), under the leadership of Prof. Idris Bugaje, has recognised KIVTSD institutions among the best in Nigeria, citing their facilities, technology and industry-standard training.
According to Governor Sani, the recognition demonstrates that the Kaduna model is moving beyond producing skilled young people to developing a vocational training framework with potential national relevance.
The governor expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his support and partnership with sub-national governments, saying the Federal Government’s approach has created greater opportunities for states to innovate and deliver programmes tailored to the needs of their citizens.
He said the graduation marked only the beginning of the KIVTSD journey, with his administration determined to build a Kaduna where skills create opportunities, opportunities drive enterprise, and enterprise delivers dignity, prosperity and lasting impact.
