In a statement marking the occasion, the foundation highlighted this year’s IWD theme, “Inspire Inclusion,” as a powerful reminder of the need to amplify women’s voices, especially in conflict-affected regions. The foundation stressed that women are not merely victims of violence and displacement but are key architects of peace, economic development, and social transformation.
“We reaffirm our commitment to empowering women and girls through education, economic support, psychosocial services, and conflict resolution initiatives. When women are included in decision-making, societies flourish, and sustainable peace becomes achievable,” said Ambassador Ummu Khalthum Muhammad, Chairperson of Kalthum Foundation for Peace.
The organization urged governments, civil society, and policymakers to prioritize gender-inclusive policies that enhance women’s participation in governance, security, and economic growth. It called for a collective effort to create an environment where women’s leadership is not just encouraged but institutionalized.
“As we mark this day, we celebrate the courage of women who continue to break barriers despite adversity. Your voices matter, your dreams are valid, and your contributions are essential to shaping a peaceful and prosperous world,” the statement added.
Kalthum Foundation for Peace reaffirmed its dedication to fostering unity and advocating for gender equality, particularly in Borno State and other conflict-prone areas. It called on stakeholders to ensure that inclusion becomes a reality, not just a slogan, and to work toward a society where every woman and girl has the opportunity to reach her full potential.
With this call to action, the foundation urged Nigerians and the international community to stand together in the mission to #InspireInclusion and create a future where peace and equality thrive.
