1. Passage of the 2022 Electoral Act (Repeal and Enactment) Bill
The Senate recommitted the 2022 Electoral Act (Repeal and Enactment) Bill to the Committee of the Whole through a motion of rescission. After thorough consideration, the bill was passed, reinforcing Nigeria’s electoral framework.

2. Support for Singa Market Fire Victims
Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, raised a motion to inform the Senate about the devastating fire that destroyed over 1,000 businesses at Kano’s Singa Market, leaving thousands of traders and families without livelihoods. The motion was co-sponsored by Senators Kawu Sumaila and Rufai Hanga.

The Senate praised President Bola Tinubu for sending a delegation led by Vice President Kashim Shettima and donating ₦5 billion to affected traders. The Progressive Governors Forum, under the leadership of Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, contributed an additional ₦3 billion. Lawmakers also called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide immediate relief.

4. Presidential Nominations for Key Positions
President Tinubu submitted two nominations for confirmation:

Retired Rear Admiral Jamila Abubakar Sadiq as National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Ambassador Ismail Yusuf as Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

Both nominations were referred to the relevant Senate committees for screening and approval.
