In a formal ceremony held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa officially took command as the 3rd Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army in Jalingo.

During his inaugural address, the new Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, lauded the achievements and purposeful leadership of his predecessor, Major General Frank Etim, in maintaining peace and stability within the Brigade Area of Responsibility.

” I pledge to sustain and build upon these legacies and I urge commanders and troops to prepare for the challenges ahead,” he said, emphasising an unwavering commitment to flushing out criminal elements and promoting peace.

General Uwa stressed the importance of maintaining high standards of discipline and professionalism while fostering innovation and teamwork.

The outgoing Commander, Major General Frank Etim, recently promoted to the rank of Major General, expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for the opportunity to serve the nation. He conveyed confidence in his successor’s ability to build upon the achievements in addressing security threats within the state. “I know you will succeed, especially with your depth of experience,” he affirmed.

Major General Etim urged officers and soldiers to extend the same cooperation and support to the new commander.

The ceremony’s highlight included the formal signing of handing and taking over notes, the presentation of the 6 Brigade flag to Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, and the symbolic lowering and hoisting of the brigade flag.
