Klub 98 Urges Swift Action as Abducted Oyo Schoolchildren Remain in Captivity

The Klub 98 Initiative has called on the Federal Government, Oyo State authorities, and security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the safe release of schoolchildren and their teacher who were reportedly abducted in Oyo State and remain in captivity.

In a statement issued on behalf of the organisation, the Vice President of Klub 98 Initiative, Mrs. Blessing Obodoechie Mozie, expressed deep concern over the incident, describing it as a disturbing attack on children’s right to education and safety.

The group condemned the abduction and appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, Oyo State First Lady Tamunominini Makinde, the Minister of Women Affairs, and relevant security agencies to treat the matter with urgency.

According to the organisation, incidents of school-related kidnappings undermine public confidence in the education system and discourage parents from sending their children to school.

“Every child deserves to learn in an environment free from fear and violence,” the statement said.

While expressing support for ongoing security operations aimed at rescuing the victims and bringing those responsible to justice, Klub 98 urged authorities to prioritise the preservation of human lives throughout the rescue process.

The organisation also recommended that all lawful options, including dialogue and negotiation where deemed appropriate by relevant authorities, be considered if they could facilitate the safe release of the victims without further endangering lives.

Describing the situation as a humanitarian concern rather than a political issue, the group called for decisive action, compassion, and collaboration among government agencies and stakeholders.

Klub 98 further appealed to Nigerians to support the affected families through prayers and by providing useful information that could assist security agencies in their efforts to secure the victims’ freedom.

The initiative said it stands in solidarity with the families of the abducted children and their teachers and joins other concerned Nigerians in hoping for their swift and safe return.

The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to child welfare, education, and the protection of vulnerable members of society, stressing the need to build a nation where children can learn and thrive without fear.
