Lagos APC Blasts Atiku Responsible for the Damage He Now Complains About

The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Mogaji (Hon) Seye Oladejo Spokesman has described former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s latest remarks as yet another desperate attempt to rewrite history and absolve himself of the damage he helped inflict on Nigeria.

Atiku had accused both the PDP and APC of “bringing insecurity and hunger” to the country — a statement the Lagos APC says only exposes his “political amnesia” and “historic irresponsibility.”

1. Atiku Cannot Escape His Own Economic Record

According to the APC, Atiku still carries the burden of the controversial privatization era, during which national assets were allegedly sold off in a manner that crippled industries, erased jobs, and weakened the economy.
They argue that the consequences of those actions remain visible today.

2. PDP-Era Rot Laid the Foundation for Today’s Challenges

The statement notes that during the PDP years — with Atiku as a key player — Nigeria witnessed the rise of Boko Haram, entrenched corruption, reckless spending of oil revenues, and deepening poverty.
“Atiku was not a bystander,” the party said. “He was at the center of it.”

3. Atiku Should Stop Insulting Nigerians’ Memory

The APC accuses Atiku of repeatedly contesting for president without delivering meaningful development, even in Adamawa, his home state.
“If Adamawa is still battling poverty and underdevelopment despite his long political journey, what authority does he have to lecture the nation?” the statement reads.

4. His Endless Quest for Power Is the Real Problem

The party criticized Atiku’s frequent movement across political parties, describing him as “a man driven not by vision but by desperation.”

5. APC Says It Is Fixing the Damage Atiku Helped Create

The Lagos APC insists that President Bola Tinubu’s reforms — from rebuilding security to stabilizing the economy — are targeted at correcting decades of institutional decay allegedly worsened by Atiku and the PDP.

6. Time for Atiku to Step Aside

The party concludes that Atiku’s political relevance is fading and urges him to focus on accountability and restitution rather than attempting to rewrite his legacy.

Final Word

The Lagos APC maintains that Atiku Abubakar remains a central figure in the insecurity, poverty, and economic setbacks he now criticizes, and reiterates that it will not allow “the authors of Nigeria’s past failures” to distort the truth.
