Lagos Government Pays ₦3.1 Billion Compensation to 331 Property Owners Affected by Infrastructure Projects
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has presented ₦3.1 billion in compensation to 331 property owners whose lands and buildings were acquired for major infrastructure projects across different parts of the state.
The affected areas include Badagry, Epe, Ikorodu, Igbogbo and Ogba, where ongoing and planned public infrastructure developments are expected to improve connectivity, transportation and the overall quality of life for millions of Lagos residents.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said the compensation exercise reflects the government’s commitment to fairness, accountability and respect for the rights of citizens affected by development projects.
He explained that all claims were carefully verified through due process to ensure that rightful owners received appropriate compensation for their properties.
“Behind every property is a family, a home or a business. While these projects will benefit millions of Lagosians, I do not take the sacrifice of those who made them possible for granted,” the Governor said.
He added that infrastructure development must go hand in hand with protecting the interests of residents who contribute to the progress of the state.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to delivering projects that transform Lagos while maintaining transparency and ensuring that citizens are treated with dignity.
He noted that the compensation payment represents another step towards fulfilling the government’s promise to govern with fairness, responsibility and accountability.
