Former Chief of Army Staff and ex-Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd.), has emphasized the critical role of foresight, endurance, and focus in achieving greatness.
Speaking to participants from the Nigerian Air Force War College during their study tour at Tukur and Tukur Farms in Keffi, General Buratai shared invaluable leadership insights that resonated deeply with the future military leaders.
General Buratai, who also chairs the Board of Trustees of the Tukur Buratai Research Centre, underscored the importance of unwavering determination and strategic focus in pursuing success.
“To succeed, you must have focus and pursue it to a logical conclusion,” he stated, stressing that true achievement requires persistence and resilience.
He urged the participants to develop a passion for their goals, emphasizing that success is attainable with a strong will and sustained effort.
Air Vice Marshal AG Kehinde, Commandant of the Air War College, lauded General Buratai’s exemplary leadership, highlighting the significance of role models in leadership training.
“Tomorrow, they will hold strategic leadership positions in military formations, and if we are to get the best out of them, we must showcase those who have gone ahead and acknowledge their footprints in the sands of time,” Kehinde remarked.
He further commended Buratai as an accomplished leader and statesman who has reached heights few can claim.
Participants were deeply moved by Buratai’s leadership example. Wing Commander AO Idoko expressed admiration for the general’s visionary leadership, noting, “What I have seen here is a pure demonstration of foresight and planning. It only takes deliberate planning to achieve something like this. I am inspired to emulate General Buratai, who has built a reputable career in the Nigerian Army and continues to contribute to national development.”
Lieutenant Colonel Alliana Ayisi, an allied participant from Cameroon, echoed similar sentiments, finding the visit profoundly insightful. “It has inspired me to see what can be achieved even before retirement – a vision to make our dreams a reality,” Ayisi shared.
During the tour, participants were briefed on the diverse activities of Tukur and Tukur Farms by the Managing Director, Hamisu Tukur Buratai. The highlight of the visit was an extensive tour of the farm’s various integrated components, which include one of West Africa’s largest snake farms, alongside agricultural and livestock production.
Tukur and Tukur Farms stands out as a model of innovative farming and entrepreneurship in Nigeria. The farm not only engages in crop and animal husbandry but also promotes tourism and education through guided tours and educational programs. The visit by the Nigerian Air Force War College participants is a testament to the farm’s role in advancing knowledge and inspiring the next generation of leaders.
