The late Olabode Olawuyi, the zoo attendant who was recently killed by a lion at the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Zoological Garden, Ile-Ife, has been buried.

Our Correspondent gathered that he was buried on Wednesday at OAU Cemetery after a funeral service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Ile-Ife.

During his sermon, Pastor Olu Okotoni emphasized the inevitability of death and encouraged everyone to prepare for their final day on earth.

Okotoni highlighted the unexpected nature of Olawuyi’s passing, stating that according to scripture, man is appointed to die once and then face judgment. He mentioned that the deceased bravely sacrificed himself to save the life of a junior staff who was initially attacked by the lion.

“We believe we will see him again on the glorious day.

He was a born again Christian until his last breath and he lived a fulfilled life,” he said.

Our Correspondent recalls that Olawuyi, an Assistant Chief Veterinary Technologist, was killed by a nine-year-old lion at the zoological garden on February 19.

The deceased was attacked while attempting to rescue a woman who was initially attacked by the lion.
