As part of this drive, the Ministry has concluded strategic, purpose-driven engagements with the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, and Galaxy Backbone Limited, led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Ibrahim Adeyanju. The discussions focused on digitising key processes within the Ministry to enhance operational effectiveness.
Under the initiative, the Ministry of Defence will migrate its core operations to the Federal Government’s 1Government Cloud. The move will provide a secure and unified digital platform for internal activities, replacing manual workflows and significantly improving record management, secure communication and coordination across departments.
Officials noted that the transition will not only accelerate decision-making and improve collaboration but also strengthen data security and protect national data sovereignty. By aligning with established cybersecurity standards, the platform is expected to ensure safer handling of sensitive information while enabling real-time access to data from any location.
Clear timelines have been agreed for pilot deployment and comprehensive staff training, underscoring the Ministry’s readiness to implement the reforms. The digitisation effort represents a concrete step toward building a more responsive, transparent and digitally enabled Ministry of Defence, in line with broader public service reforms and national digital transformation goals.
