Murtala Muhammed Area Command Generates ₦202.9bn in 2025, Surpasses Target by 13%
The Murtala Muhammed Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced a total revenue collection of ₦202.9 billion between January and December 2025, representing a 13 percent increase over the ₦181.01 billion generated in 2024.

The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Godwin Otunla, disclosed that the Command also achieved 113 percent of its annual revenue target, reflecting what he described as a year of strong operational performance.
Comptroller Otunla attributed the impressive figures to improved trader compliance, enhanced monitoring of import transactions, and the timely detection of irregularities. He noted that strategic measures put in place to block revenue leakages significantly contributed to the growth recorded during the period.
He commended the dedication and professionalism of officers and men of the Command, as well as the collaboration with sister government agencies. The Controller also acknowledged the support of compliant traders and licensed customs agents, describing their cooperation as vital to the Command’s success.
Reaffirming the Command’s commitment to transparency and accountability, Otunla assured stakeholders of sustained engagement and improved service delivery in line with the core mandate of the Nigeria Customs Service to facilitate legitimate trade while optimising revenue generation for national development.
