Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has charged newly appointed Special Advisers and Honorary Special Advisers to justify the confidence reposed in them by contributing meaningfully to governance, strengthening public trust and delivering tangible results for the people.

The Governor gave the charge on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, during the swearing-in ceremony of the appointees at Victoria Gowon Hall, New Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos.

He emphasised that public office was a responsibility that required integrity, discipline, accountability and an unwavering commitment to the collective interest of Plateau State.

“From the outset, our administration has been guided by a clear conviction: the mandate freely entrusted to us by the people of Plateau State is not a privilege to be enjoyed, but a solemn responsibility to be discharged with integrity, humility, sincerity and measurable results,” Mutfwang said.

He explained that the appointments were aimed at strengthening the state’s governance structure, broadening consultation, improving policy formulation and implementation, and bringing additional expertise into government.

The Governor reminded the appointees that their appointments were not merely recognition of personal achievements but a call to greater responsibility, sacrifice, loyalty and accountability to the people.

He urged them to provide sound policy advice, identify practical solutions to emerging challenges and ensure that government decisions translated into measurable improvements in the lives of citizens.

“Your recommendations must be timely, evidence-based and guided by the overriding interest of Plateau State,” he said, stressing the need for professionalism and the ability to turn ideas into actionable proposals.

On teamwork and accountability, Mutfwang cautioned against personal interests and unnecessary rivalries, noting that loyalty must be demonstrated through responsible service and commitment to the administration’s mandate.

“Our administration needs people who can offer honest advice, identify workable solutions and remain focused on the collective interest of the state,” he added.

Highlighting his administration’s priorities, the Governor reaffirmed that peace and security remained paramount. He cited the reinvigoration of Operation Rainbow, strengthened community-based security efforts and the training of approximately 1,500 personnel as part of efforts to improve security across the state.

He also highlighted investments in healthcare, education, agriculture, energy, water supply, sanitation, transportation and road infrastructure, saying the interventions were designed to improve living standards, particularly in rural and underserved communities.

Acknowledging that more work remained to be done, Mutfwang urged the appointees to remain accessible and responsive to citizens’ concerns, especially those of women, young people, farmers, entrepreneurs and vulnerable groups.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to rebuilding affected communities, strengthening peace and creating an environment where every citizen could live and prosper with dignity.

The Governor also expressed sorrow over the fresh attack in Gyero village, Jos South Local Government Area, describing the incident as deeply troubling, particularly amid ongoing government efforts and investments to strengthen security and protect lives and property.

He called on residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely, credible and actionable intelligence, including early warning signals, to enable swift responses and prevent further attacks.

Mutfwang declared that “the Time Is Now” to deepen the commitment to peace, strengthen institutions, accelerate development and deliver purposeful leadership across Plateau State. He urged the appointees to translate the administration’s shared vision into visible progress for the people.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, the Chairman of the Plateau State House of Assembly Service Commission, Rt. Hon. Titus Alams, thanked the Governor for the confidence reposed in them and assured him that they would not take the opportunity to serve for granted.

“Your Excellency, thank you for believing in us,” Alams said, adding that the appointees understood that their contributions to the administration would form part of the legacy of its tenure.

He also appreciated the state party chairman, the Secretary to the State Government, the Head of Service and the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, as well as the spouses and families of the appointees, for their support.
