Mutfwang Reaffirms Commitment to Protecting Lives, Property in Plateau

Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, assuring citizens that the government will continue to deploy all lawful means to address banditry, criminality and other security threats across the state.

Governor Mutfwang gave the assurance on Sunday while speaking at the 2026 Plateau Annual Convention of the General Council of the Assemblies of God Nigeria, North East Zone, held at the church’s Jos District Headquarters in Gyel, Jos South Local Government Area.

The convention was held under the theme, “Breaking Barriers into Your Next Level.”

The governor expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the Assemblies of God Nigeria for their prayers and continued support for peace and development in Plateau State.

Acknowledging the security challenges the state has experienced, Mutfwang said his administration, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, was strengthening measures to confront perpetrators of violence and restore lasting peace.

“I cannot abandon my responsibility of securing the people of Plateau State. We will protect our people with all that we have, within the ambit of the law,” the governor said.

Mutfwang also expressed confidence in the resilience of the people and urged citizens not to allow violence to divide the state. He called for unity and cautioned against the “pull-him-down” mentality, stressing that collective strength remained essential to overcoming the challenges facing Plateau.

The governor further appealed to Christian leaders to promote unity, peace and reconciliation, urging them to rise above divisions, bitterness, unforgiveness and other attitudes capable of weakening the Church.

He said his involvement in politics was motivated by a desire to serve God and humanity, adding that his administration remained focused on changing the narrative about Plateau State while pursuing development across critical sectors and improving the welfare of citizens.

The former General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Nigeria and guest speaker at the convention commended Mutfwang for his resilience and commitment to protecting lives and property, while praying for wisdom, strength and grace for the governor.

Also speaking, the Executive Council member representing the North East Zone, Rev. Jacob S. Langs, thanked the governor for honouring the invitation and acknowledged his contributions to the development of Plateau State and the Assemblies of God Nigeria.

The convention ended with a donation by Governor Mutfwang to support widows, youth entrepreneurship initiatives and other activities of the convention, underscoring his administration’s emphasis on supporting vulnerable groups and promoting inclusive development.
