NAF Collaboration Crucial for Bauchi State Security, Says Governor Bala Mohammed
Bauchi State Governor, His Excellency Senator Bala Mohammed, has credited the relative peace and tranquility in Bauchi State to the effective collaborative efforts of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and other security agencies. Governor Mohammed made these remarks during a meeting with the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, at the Government House in Bauchi on Monday, May 13, 2024.
Governor Mohammed specifically highlighted NAF’s air power support in addressing security challenges in flashpoints like Alkaleri, Tafawa Balewa, and Ningi. He emphasized the significance of good governance in tackling Nigeria’s multifaceted security issues, attributing the rise of criminal activities partly to the absence of functional local government administration in many states.
“The need for local government administrations to be given the relevance they deserve is thus important,” Governor Mohammed asserted.
In response, the Chief of Air Staff commended Governor Mohammed’s commitment to promoting sustainable development in Bauchi State, particularly through infrastructural development and investments in agricultural projects like the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) project. Air Marshal Abubakar lauded the SAPZ initiative for its potential to enhance food and job security, boost agricultural contributions to the State’s Gross Domestic Product, and mitigate criminal activities.
During his visit, Air Marshal Abubakar also met with the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji (Dr) Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, who commended the Special Operations Command (SOC) for conducting free medical outreaches in the State.
The Chief of Air Staff’s visit to Bauchi was part of his operational tour of SOC, Bauchi, reaffirming the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region.
