The Lagos visit followed an earlier assessment tour in Abuja and forms part of a broader initiative aimed at conducting on-the-spot evaluations of NAFOWA facilities across the country. Mrs. Aneke and her entourage were warmly received by members of NAFOWA and the Airmen Wives Association (AWA), whose strong turnout reflected widespread support for the administration’s reform and welfare agenda.

During the visit, the NAFOWA President inspected key educational and skills-development facilities, including the NAFOWA Vocational and ICT Centre, as well as the NAFOWA Little Angels School branches located within the Sam Ethnan Air Force Base and the Shasha area of Lagos. Facility administrators conducted guided tours and provided briefings on operations, infrastructure status, and prevailing challenges.

In line with the approach adopted during the Abuja tour, Mrs. Aneke carried out a detailed assessment of the facilities, identifying areas requiring urgent intervention. She assured staff and management of her administration’s readiness to address observed gaps, noting that the tour was intended to provide first-hand information that would guide practical and sustainable solutions.

The visit also featured an interactive engagement with members of NAFOWA and AWA, during which Mrs. Aneke outlined the vision and mission of her administration. She reaffirmed her commitment to member welfare, community upliftment, and strengthening NAFOWA as a compassionate, impact-driven organisation.

In a solemn moment, the President led members in observing a minute of silence in honour of Nigerian Air Force personnel who paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. She reiterated her administration’s resolve to support the families they left behind, particularly widows and vulnerable dependants.

Mrs. Aneke further disclosed that targeted initiatives are being strengthened to enhance member welfare, support widows of fallen personnel, uplift Base communities, and provide humanitarian assistance to physically challenged individuals within host communities. She described these efforts as a moral responsibility and a collective obligation to families who have borne the burden of national service.

She also announced the imminent launch of a special medical and humanitarian outreach programme for widows and wives of serving personnel. According to her, the pilot phase of the programme will hold at the NAF Base Bill Clinton, Abuja, on January 24, 2026, with plans for gradual expansion to other Air Force Bases nationwide.

The outreach, she explained, is designed to deliver direct and practical support to widows of fallen heroes, vulnerable members of Base communities, and host communities, while translating compassion into concrete action. She added that empowerment programmes focused on capacity building, skills acquisition, and self-reliance for NAFOWA and AWA members will continue to receive priority attention.

The Lagos leg of the tour further highlights Mrs. Aneke’s holistic leadership approach, combining infrastructure revitalisation with people-centred welfare initiatives, and reaffirming support for military families as a core focus of the current NAFOWA administration.
