NAPTIP Rescues Elderly Woman from Alleged Abuse by Son in Abuja
The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued an elderly woman from a case of repeated domestic violence allegedly inflicted by her son in Gwarinpa Estate.

According to the agency, the suspect, a man in his mid-30s, is accused of subjecting his mother to continuous abuse, an act said to be in clear violation of the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act.
NAPTIP disclosed that the intervention followed credible reports of ongoing violence within the household, prompting swift action by its operatives to ensure the safety of the victim.
The rescued woman is currently receiving care and support, while investigations into the incident are ongoing. Authorities say appropriate legal steps will be taken against the suspect in line with existing laws.
The agency reiterated its commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and urged members of the public to report cases of abuse and exploitation to relevant authorities.
