NASENI Boss Highlights Digital Transformation, Calls for Technology-Driven Public Service Reforms
The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Khalil Suleiman Halilu, has underscored the importance of leadership, innovation and technology adoption in driving sustainable reforms across Nigeria’s public service.
Speaking at the Nigeria Public Service Lecture Series organised by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Halilu said meaningful public sector transformation begins with visionary leadership and a willingness to embrace change.
According to him, when he assumed office at NASENI, many of the agency’s operations were largely manual, with limited use of digital technologies. However, through deliberate institutional reforms and the deployment of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, the agency has significantly transformed its operations into a largely paperless and data-driven environment.
Halilu noted that the reforms have improved efficiency, enhanced transparency and strengthened decision-making processes within the agency, demonstrating the impact of technology-driven governance.
He stressed that successful institutional transformation depends on the ability of personnel to adapt to new systems, embrace innovation and cultivate a culture of performance and accountability.
The NASENI chief also shared lessons from the agency’s reform journey, emphasizing that technology remains a critical tool for improving service delivery and boosting productivity across government institutions.
He further expressed NASENI’s readiness to support Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) seeking to accelerate their digital transformation efforts, noting that collaboration and innovation are essential to building a more efficient and responsive public service.
The remarks come as the Federal Government continues to promote digitalisation and public sector reforms aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency and service delivery across government institutions.
