NASENI EVC, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, Inducted as Fellow of the NIMechE
The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, has been conferred with the prestigious title of Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers (NIMechE), marking another milestone in his distinguished journey of service, innovation, and leadership in Nigeria’s engineering sector.
The honour was bestowed during the 38th Annual Conference and Investiture Ceremony of NIMechE, where Mr. Halilu was recognized for his outstanding contributions to the growth of engineering, technology transfer, and industrial development in Nigeria.

Born with a keen entrepreneurial spirit, Khalil Halilu holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in International Business from the University of Hertfordshire, UK. Before joining NASENI, he built a track record of excellence across technology, innovation, and enterprise development, founding Tech Tank Labs—West Africa’s first eco-friendly technology hub—and leading multiple initiatives focused on digital solutions and industrial growth.
Since assuming office as NASENI’s EVC/CEO, Mr. Halilu has repositioned the Agency into a results-driven institution delivering practical, market-ready innovations. His leadership has seen the rollout of over 40 homegrown technological products, including renewable energy solutions, agricultural machinery, smart devices, electric mobility innovations, and engineering tools designed to strengthen Nigeria’s manufacturing capacity.
At NASENI, he has championed a new model of commercialization-driven engineering, ensuring that research outputs translate into real economic value. His administration has also expanded partnerships with international bodies and local industries to accelerate technology transfer, capacity building, and the development of indigenous engineering talent.
Receiving the Fellowship award, Mr. Halilu expressed gratitude to NIMechE for the honour, describing it as a call to deepen NASENI’s mission. He reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to building Nigeria’s engineering capacity, promoting homegrown innovation, and supporting national industrialization through science and technology.
“This Fellowship strengthens our resolve at NASENI to continue driving sustainable engineering, innovation, and technology solutions that will shape the future of Nigeria’s industrial growth,” he said.
The Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers commended Mr. Halilu’s leadership, vision, and contributions, noting that his work continues to inspire a new generation of engineers and innovators across the country.
