NCAA Director Ahmad Abba Re-Elected IFATCA Executive Vice President for Africa, Middle East
The Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Ahmad Abba, has been re-elected Executive Vice President for Africa and the Middle East (EVP-AFM) of the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations (IFATCA).
Abba’s re-election took place at the 37th IFATCA Africa and Middle East Regional Meeting, held in Amman, Jordan, from October 26 to 30, 2026. His new term will run from 2027 to 2029.
First elected to the regional leadership position in 2024, his re-election reflects the confidence of IFATCA member associations in his leadership and commitment to advancing the interests of air traffic controllers across Africa and the Middle East.
In the role, Abba will work with member associations, aviation authorities, international organisations and industry partners to strengthen regional cooperation, promote safe and efficient air navigation services, develop skilled aviation professionals and support the welfare and career growth of air traffic controllers.
He expressed appreciation to the member associations for their confidence and support, pledging to continue working towards strengthening IFATCA and building a safer, more resilient and sustainable aviation system.
Abba is a licensed air traffic controller with over 25 years of experience in the aviation industry. He is an International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)-certified instructor and has served in operational, safety, search and rescue, and regulatory roles.
As Director of Aerodrome and Airspace Standards at the NCAA, he oversees regulatory activities in the areas of aerodromes and airspace while contributing to the development of Nigeria’s civil aviation sector.
His re-election is a recognition of his contributions to aviation and the growing role of Nigerian professionals in international aviation leadership and cooperation.
