NDLEA Arrests 73 Suspects, Seizes Illicit Drugs in Kano Crackdown

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has arrested 73 suspects and recovered various illicit drugs during a one-day intelligence-led operation conducted across Kano State.

The operation, which targeted suspected drug trafficking and abuse hotspots, forms part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to combat the menace of illicit drug activities and safeguard communities from the dangers associated with substance abuse.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari.

According to the statement, the coordinated operation led to the arrest of dozens of suspects and the recovery of different categories of prohibited substances, although details of the specific drugs seized were not immediately disclosed.

The Command noted that the exercise was based on credible intelligence and was aimed at dismantling drug distribution networks operating within the state.

NDLEA reiterated its commitment to intensifying operations against drug traffickers, dealers, and users, while urging residents to continue providing useful information that could assist law enforcement agencies in tackling drug-related crimes.

The agency further assured the public that investigations into the arrests are ongoing and that suspects found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The latest operation underscores NDLEA’s sustained campaign against drug trafficking and abuse as part of broader efforts to promote public safety and security across Kano State.
