The meeting focused on the 2026 Seasonal Climate Prediction earlier released by Nigerian Meteorological Agency, with stakeholders assessing strategies to mitigate the impact of anticipated weather patterns across the country.

Umar noted that Nigeria continues to experience increasing climate variability, with flooding posing significant threats to food production, infrastructure, and overall national development.

She said the meeting also reviewed insights from the 2025 After Action Review (AAR), providing an opportunity to reflect on previous responses, identify coordination gaps, and strengthen early warning and response mechanisms.

According to her, the engagement underscores the need for a data-driven and proactive approach, ensuring that lessons learned from past incidents inform future planning and emergency response strategies.

The initiative is part of broader efforts by NEMA and its partners to improve coordination, enhance preparedness, and reduce the impact of disasters across the country.
