The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Zubaida Umar Abubakar, has held a strategic meeting with the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Aisha Garba, to advance the effective operationalisation of schools established under the Rehabilitation Scheme for Persons Impacted by Conflicts (RSPIC) across the country.

The engagement focused on securing UBEC’s support in strengthening educational services within RSPIC communities, where rebuilding lives and restoring stability remain ongoing priorities.

Speaking on the importance of the collaboration, the NEMA Director-General emphasised that education is central to sustainable recovery in post-conflict settings. She noted that ensuring access to basic education for children in affected communities would significantly enhance human development, promote social stability, and reinforce national resilience.

Under the proposed partnership, UBEC is expected to facilitate the deployment of qualified teachers, provide essential learning materials, and deliver other critical educational support services to the schools.

Both agencies reaffirmed their commitment to working closely to ensure that children in conflict-impacted areas are not left behind, as part of broader efforts to promote long-term recovery and inclusive development nationwide.
