The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, on Wednesday launched a N300 million “Renewed Hope” empowerment grant for 2,200 youths in Plateau State.
The programme, held in Jos on April 29, 2026, brought together party stakeholders, youth groups and beneficiaries from across the 17 local government areas of the state.

Speaking during the launch, Nentawe said the initiative was designed to provide direct financial support to young people, small-scale entrepreneurs, and vulnerable groups to enhance their economic activities and reduce dependence.
He explained that the intervention aligns with the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises economic inclusion, job creation, and poverty reduction across the country.
According to him, the empowerment grant is part of a broader strategy to stimulate grassroots development and equip youths with the resources needed to become self-reliant and productive members of society.
He noted that unemployment and lack of opportunities remain key drivers of insecurity and social instability, stressing that targeted empowerment programmes such as this would help address those challenges.
“This initiative is not just about giving out money; it is about creating opportunities, supporting dreams, and building a future where our youths can thrive,” he said.
Nentawe urged beneficiaries to utilise the funds responsibly and invest in viable ventures that would generate income and contribute to the local economy.
He also called on community leaders and stakeholders to support the beneficiaries and ensure that the programme achieves its intended impact.
Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke at the event, commended the APC leadership for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful amid prevailing economic challenges.
They said the support would help them expand their businesses, acquire tools, and improve their means of livelihood.
Party officials at the event reiterated their commitment to youth development and inclusive governance, noting that similar interventions would be sustained and expanded to reach more people across the state.
The “Renewed Hope” empowerment programme is expected to be implemented in phases, with additional beneficiaries projected to be captured in subsequent rounds.
